Blimp-Skiing!!

Blimp-Skiing!!

In an unprecedented end-of-season move, Alaska Heliskiing in Haines, Alaska, has partnered up with Expedition Broker & Lockheed Martin to begin the first Blimp-accessed ski and snowboard operation. “We’re always trying to stay a step ahead of the competition and Expedition Broker has been leading the hot-air market for years now,” reported Ryan Johnson, co-owner of Alaska Heliskiing, “so we see it as a no-brainer.”

“Helicopters have always been so darn contentious in Haines,” stated Greg Schlachter, owner of Expedition Broker. “Who doesn’t like a zeppelin? I mean even their names are fun, whether you call them blimps or dirigeables.”

Brad Ryan, interim Haines Borough Manager mentioned “I think this will be a win-win for both residents and the industry and possibly lead to expanded summer tourism.”

After reaching out to a few industry leaders to get input, Canadian Mountain Holiday corrected Alaska Heliskiing that they are not the first to offer airship-access skiing. “Our founder did a couple first descents in the Bugaboos aboard the Hindenburg prior to its accident in Jersey,” claimed a CMH representative.

Hey Greg, today’s joke could be tomorrow’s next great opportunity. Could a blimp be controlled well enough to keep at a good trolling speed….you think those salmon are good jumpers now, wait til you hook one from a zeppelin !

Denis- Agreed! A king salmon would be a heck of a fight from a blimp! We’ll keep you posted if we make it happen! GS
