Egdorfs Nushagak Camp

Egdorfs Nushagak Camp

When Dave Egdorf began contemplating establishing the ultimate destination for visiting Rainbow Trout and wilderness enthusiasts, the Upper Nushagak River became an immediate first choice. Since 1982, Dave and his family have called the Nushagak their home river. The upper river and its tributaries remain very productive and still provide anglers with a wonderful wilderness fly fishing experience in an uncrowded setting.

Access to the area is by float plane. Words such as remote, wild, pristine, etc. all reflect the reality of a fishing experience in absolute solitude at one of North America’s best fly fishing destinations. There are no roads within 100 miles, and the nearest habitation is an Eskimo village some 60 air miles distant.

Visiting anglers have excellent opportunities to catch Rainbow Trout, Arctic Grayling, and Dolly Varden (Char) which are available all season; and Chum, Sockeye, Coho and King Salmon, which are available during specific periods throughout the season.

The Nushagak is a gravel bottomed clear-running, modest-sized river; an ideal habitat for spawning salmon, with mega numbers of Rainbow Trout, Arctic Grayling and Char. It is truly a world-class fishing destination, where you can escape “real world” pressures and be selfish with your angling passion and fish your heart out or just relax at your pace day after day in total comfort.

Lodging & Dining

This is a remote tent camp with all the basic essentials including a full kitchen, dining area, showers, private bathroom facilities and comfortable guest tent quarters. Each 8’x10′ WeatherPort tent sleeps two people and contains comfortable mattresses on cots and electric outlets for charging necessities. Attached decks offer a great view of the Nushagak. Sleeping bags, clean linens, pillows, wash clothes and towels are provided.

Egdorf’s camp specializes in home style meals, offering hearty fresh baked breads, grilled steaks, chicken, pork, prime rib and fresh salmon. Wine, beer and soda are available for purchase at cost, and it is best to bring your own favorite spirits with you to the Camp.
