S/V Bob

S/V Bob

Listen to the cry of bald eagles as we swing gently on the anchor in a pristine wooded cove! Hear the spouts of an orca pod or a family of humpback whales and their rumbling songs. Feel the roar of icebergs calving as we drift among the floating ice at the face of a tidewater glacier. This summer treat yourself to a sailing vacation along the scenic waters of Southeast Alaska! You will enjoy the beauty of the endless forests, majestic mountains, and undeveloped waterways as you sail silently among the straits, bays, and inlets of the protected Inside Passage. Southeast Alaska is mostly undeveloped and naturally spectacular, but you will also have the opportunity to soak in hot springs, visit quaint rustic fishing villages, and learn about Native culture and Alaskan history – both ancient and modern.

Your guides aboard your Alaska sailboat charter are privileged to be one of the few companies selected to offer charters in Glacier Bay National Park. Sailing up these world-renowned fjords is like traveling back in time. One hundred years ago in John Muirís time, the bay was completely covered with an immense glacier that filled Icy Strait (named by Captain Cook) with icebergs. Today, the entrance to the bay is home to a mature temperate rain forest. As you sail up the bay, the wooded slopes give way to the raw power of ice and rock. A world-class destination, indeed.

In addition to Glacier Bay, most of the cruising area is the Tongass National Forestó the Nationís largest at almost 17 million acres. It is a temperate rain forest and comprises part of the well-known “Inside Passage”. Your guides have a special use permit to explore the many islands, beaches, and trails of this magical place.

S/V BOB is modern, fast, safe and roomy. The Cabin is bright and spacious with Corian counter tops, light wood cabinetry, and attractive berths with their own showers/heads. Certified for up to 6 passengers – all ages welcome. No sailing experience necessary, but if you want to help sail, your captain would love it.

The wildlife and scenery are fantastic, and it seems like something incredible happens every day. Whether your goal is seeing brown bears feeding in a stream, watching humpback whales breaching, kayaking through icebergs, hooking into the biggest fish you ever caught, or adding new birds to your “life list”, we look forward to sharing this remarkable area with you!

Captain and Crew

Captain Blain and First Mate Monique not only are some of the finest hosts for a week’s journey through Southeast Alaska, but also are close, personal friends of Greg’s. After years of exploring the Inside Passage on their personal sailboat, they purchased SV Bob in 2012 and have been exceeding client’s expectations ever since! There’s no two other people I’d rather spend a week with along the Inside Passage, and I think you’ll agree!
