The Copper is a classic Alaska trout fishing stream packed with long dry fly glides, deep windin pools studded with boulders, fast riffles, and deep undercut banks just begging for a mouse fly.

Unlike other tundra rivers in Alaska offering large trout, the Copper River runs through a scenic river valley lined with groves of cottonwood, spruce and birch. Aside from making this one of the most gorgeous rivers in the state, these trees protect fly fishermen from the relentless North winds.

Anglers are often pleasantly surprised by the size and wadeability of the Copper. The Copper River Rainbow Trout are some of the largest in the state, and are the reason the Copper River was the first river in Alaska designated a “fly fishing, catch and release only, trophy Rainbow river.” It is this designation that has kept the fishing so spectacular.

Lodging & Dining

A luxury Alaska fishing lodge with unrivaled personal service. The fishing lodge and guest cabins were recently finished in June of 2014. The lodge is a beautiful building overlooking the Copper River. It has a large deck, perfect for watching the sunset with your favorite beverage. The lodge has a large living room and dining area, bathroom, and a very nice kitchen. 4 guest cabins all have decks overlooking the river, heat, a queen and single bed, and of course a private toilet and shower.

What most distinguishs Copper River from other lodges is their guest capacity of only 6 guests, allowing your guides to custom tailor your itinerary and experience to your interests.

Gourmet food leaves nothing to be desired. Fresh baked bread, pasteries, and rolls complement meals created by the Lodge’s professional kitchen staff. Any cravings or dietary restrictions will be satisfied.

Getting Here

A number of major airlines service Anchorage with direct connections from the Lower 48. Once you arrive in Anchorage, we will arrange your flight to Iliamna. Upon arrival in Iliamna you will be transferred to the Lodge’s DeHavilland Beaver float plane for the 20 minute flight to the mouth of the Copper.
