Royal Coachman Lodge is located in the middle of the Wood-Tikchik State Park. With a capacity of only 12 guests utilizing 2 Dehavilland Beavers, you are offered complete flexibility. The fishing guides at RCL average over 10 years of experience in the region and specialize in fly fishing.

Their primary goal is to offer great fly fishing in Alaska on uncrowded waters and to provide anglers with the custom Alaskan experience they desire. You can catch all five Salmon species, trophy Rainbow Trout, Char, Dolly Varden, massive Pike, Grayling, and even some Sheefish are available.

A trip to Royal Coachman Lodge is quite simply whatever you want it to be. With a variety of waters from small streams to large rivers and lakes, your experience is dictated by your desires.

On the rare no-fly day, the Nuyakuk River proves to be a fantastic home river. Often returning spawning salmon are seen schooling past the lodge and grayling can be seen rising day or night. 75 miles of wilderness rivers can accessible directly from the lodge’s door.

Lodging & Dining

Royal Coachman lodge is located on the Nuyakuk River in Alaska, a great home river for the rare non fly-out days and for after hours fishing. No neighbors, no boats, no cars, and no planes going by the lodge, just peace and quiet right on the river.

With only 10-12 anglers at a time and a staff of 12 offers personal service and attention that truly creates a world class experience. The fishing Lodge in Alaska houses the kitchen, dining room and lounge, library corner, one guest room with a private bath, and massage room. Comfortable and cozy, this is where you will plan each following days excursions. You and your guides will sit around the fire, and decide what type of fishing you would like to do, and plan the details of tomorrow’s outing. There is no pre-scheduled fishing program here. Custom tailoring each day’s fishing is one of the major advantages to our small and personal approach to sportfishing. The Royal Coachman Lodge in Alaska has been serving guests since 1970.

RCL has four finely furnished guest cottages, one and two bedrooms, and private baths. Additionally, there is one well appointed bedroom in the main lodge. Each cabin or room has modern bath facilities, independent heat, excellent beds, and all the creature comforts of home, along with spectacular views of the river, and the rapids.

Royal Coachman prides itself on the quality and abundance of the food that is available to its guests. Freshly baked bread, rolls, and pastries are served at each lodge meal. Fresh fruit and vegetables are always available. Dinner menus vary but typically include New York steak, turkey, prime rib, Halibut, a variety of Alaskan seafood, and similar items. Lunches are prepared by the lodge kitchen staff and are often times supplemented by fresh fish cooked on the stream bank.

Homemade soups, breads, pastries, and desserts are the specialties of the house. Snacks are always available and we serve appetizers each evening.

Getting to Rainbow River Lodge

A number of major airlines service Anchorage with direct connections from the Lower 48. Once you arrive in Anchorage, PenAir provides continued air service to Dillingham, Alaska where your guides will greet you upon arrival.

Week trips begin and end on Sunday and we will arrange for your arrival into Dillingham by Sunday afternoon, where you will then be transferred by van and floatplane to the lodge. Often it is worth considering overnighting in Anchorage prior to your arrival in Dellingham.
