Points North – Cordova

Points North – Cordova

The only operator utilizing the southeastern portion of the Chugach Mountains invites you to tour their own private playground. Kevin & Jessica Quinn have been operating in Cordova since 1998 and Points North remains family owned and operated. While their guides love to ski very aggressive terrain when conditions allow, it is important to know that their is something for everyone at Points North.

The snow in the Chugach tends to create large plumes of blowing snow behind you like a vapor trail. As you reach the end of your run you are overwhelmed with enjoyment. Most say, “that was the best run of my life” only to say that on the next run as well. By days end most state that was the best day of their life. Skiing or Snowboarding in the Chugach has a tendency to do just that. When you arrive back at the facility you have the opportunity to grab a cold beverage, share stories with others, take a sauna or just plain relax until dinner.

The Heliskiing

With over 1000 square miles available out the front door of Orca Lodge, there are more first descents than one could obtain in a lifetime! Terrain is available to cater to everyone from strong intermediate skiers to world-class athletes.

Huge glaciated terrain with endless, spectacular peaks. The terrain is treeless and runs span 3,000 to 4,000 vertical feet. Over 50 feet of annual snowfall means the reset button is reliably within reach.

Points North Lodging & Operations

Located 2.5 miles from the town of Cordova, the Orca Adventure Lodge began as a cannery in 1887 and has been transformed into a 37 room, multi-seasonal adventure destination. The lodge sits on the shore of Prince William Sound immediately adjacent to your helicopter’s landing pad. A steaming wood sauna awaits your return from a day filled with powder. Enjoy a variety of fresh, local seafood including Alaska’s famous halibut and local Copper River Sockeye Salmon.

Kevin and Jessica Quinn have been hosting guests in their 3 A-Star helicopters since 1998. All guides have extensive training in emergency care, mountain safety, glacier travel, high mountain rescue techniques and helicopter operations. Additionally, all guides are certified by the US Heli Ski Association and train with those protocol standards every day.

The surrounding landscape of the Lodge is an outdoor playground and down day activities can consist of kayaking, glacier tours, skiing the local Mt. Eyak, fly fishing, ice climbing and wildlife viewing.
