Alaska Small Ship Savings

May is one of my favorite months of the year as Alaska comes back to life after a long winter. May tends to offer some of our best weather of Summer and we typically get plenty of warm, dry days in the surrounding temperate rainforest. Humpback & Orca seem to be just about everywhere, and it’s the only month where I’ve nearly been breached on by a humpback.  That’s right- Breached on.Sea Wolf Alaska Small Ship Cruise

Another highlight of the season are brown bears, fresh from hibernation, actively feeding on sedges and grasses along shorelines of fjords.  While July and August provide the classic shots of bears chasing spawning salmon in rivers, you can see plenty of bears at water’s edge while kayaking in May.  May is also the beginning of King Salmon season.  Whether self-caught or bought, they are equally tasty on the barbecue!Glacier Bay Alaska Small Ship Cruise
