The MV Discovery was originally designed and built as “Holiday” for William Morris of the Wililam Morris Agency in 1931 in San Pedro, California. From her teak decks and deckhouse to her fine Mahogany paneling, she reflects an era long past when craftsmanshp meant pride in artistry.

Her accommodations include 6 nicely appointed private staterooms all with opening portholes. 2 heads and showers are below deck. On the main deck she features beautiful mahogany dining and main salons, a new forward salon, an on deck head, galley and an enclosed fantail lounge. Her spacious and unobstructed teak decks allow unique opportunities for wildlife viewing and fishing.

Captain and Crew

Captain Ben Swanson has a joy for life that is contagious. He is a passionate naturalist and guide and will take you on a remarkable journey through Alaska in a way that only a long time owner/operator can do. A second generation Captain and life-long lover of the water, Ben grew up on boats in Washington and Alaska and has been cruising the coastal waterways of the Inside Passage for more than 30 years. “We have always owned and operated classic yachts and take great pride in the preservation of such class and elegance.”
