Tongass on the Fly

Tongass on the Fly

Tongass on the Fly is a fly fishing outfitter based in Petersburg, Alaska offering multi-day vessel-based fly fishing trips aboard a 45 foot liveaboard. Multi-day trips in the spring focus on fly fishing for native steelhead while late summer trips focus on coho salmon. Private Alaska liveaboard adventures are also available throughout the summer for a variety of species.

Their operational region of the Tongass National Forest is rich with streams and rivers, providing excellent opportunities to target a variety of fish species. Private fly fishing charters are the perfect choice for families or friends looking for a complete Southeast Alaska experience.

These trips are ideal for non-anglers too, offering a variety of activities beyond fly fishing. It’s prime opportunity to spot bears, whales, and other wildlife in their natural habitat. You can also get hands-on with setting crab and shrimp pots, or even catch your own dinner from the fertile saltwater. Each trip can be customized to suit the interests of your group, making it the perfect choice for anyone wanting a well-rounded Alaskan adventure beyond fly fishing.

Captain and Crew

Lucas Mullen has an impressive wealth of knowledge and experience in Southeast Alaska. With over fifteen years of experience guiding fly fishermen and big game hunters in the region, Lucas is passionate about exploring the seemingly endless freshwater creeks of the Tongass in a responsible and sustainable way. Lucas holds a USCG Captain’s License.

Kevin Main’s love for fly fishing began at a young age, growing up in Colorado. However, it was a spring steelhead trip to Southeast Alaska following college that he fell in love with the area and decided to make it his home.

Since that time, Kevin has guided at a world-class fly fishing lodge in Bristol Bay but has always been drawn back to the Tongass, and in particular, the steelhead fishing. He is deeply passionate about the sport and committed to ensuring guests have an exceptional experience on the water. Kevin also holds a USCG Captain’s license.
